AHMEDABAD: Curfew was relaxed on Wednesday for women and children in Lunawada of Gujarat's Panchmahals district, with no untoward incident reported from the trouble-hit town, according to a top police official.

The curfew has been relaxed for women and children from 11 am to 5 pm, Panchmahals Police Superintendent N D Solanki said here on Wednesday.

"Lunawada is peaceful right now and curfew has been relaxed for women and children till 5 pm. No more arrests have been made and no untoward incident has been reported since yesterday," he said.

Communal trouble began on last Wednesday in the sensitive town with violent mobs indulging in stone throwing, arson and rioting in many areas.

District police has also arrested nearly 100 persons and seized several weapons during intense combing operations in many parts of the town.
